Catriona Coghill

I find that I’m drawn to the same subject matter that would engross me as a child, and what intrigued me then intrigues me now.

The ever changing interplay between sea, sky and landscape of the Hebrides is my constant source of inspiration. I hope to convey a strong sense of atmosphere in my paintings, through shifting light and rapidly changing weather patterns.

My painting is always an emotional response to what is happening in the moment. The use of colour and texture are predominant in my work, while layering and scraping away help me to express the love and joy I have for my surroundings.
